3D Printers for Foundry Casting Patterns
Print accurate sand casting patterns in house, in days instead of weeks.
GO3D industrial FDM 3D printers turn your CAD file into an accurate casting pattern on your own shop floor. No pattern vendor, no warped wood, no waiting. Made in India, with on site installation and operator training.

Results from Ganga Thermopack, a GO3D customer.
Pattern problems cost more than patterns
When a pattern is off, every step after it pays: the casting, the machining and your delivery date.
Wooden patterns warp and shrink
Hand made patterns drift from the CAD design, so casting dimensions are never quite predictable.
Thermocol patterns bend
Soft patterns deform during moulding and produce warped castings.
Broken tools on the VMC
Extra material on the casting snaps cutting tools. Ganga Thermopack was breaking 4 to 5 tools per job.
Weeks of waiting
Every new pattern or design change goes back to an outside pattern maker.
From CAD to casting on your own shop floor
One designer can run the whole flow, from CAD file to machining program.
Prepare the pattern
Start from your finished part. In GO3D Transform, select the surfaces to machine and add machining and shrinkage allowance in a few clicks. Fillets blend automatically, with no CAD rework. Add draft angles in CAD as your process needs.
Print it in house
Print the pattern on a GO3D industrial FDM printer. Choose the material, nozzle and finishing to suit the surface and casting run you need.

Cast it
Use the printed pattern in your sand moulding line. Material and print settings are planned around how many castings you need.

Machine it
Accurate castings give predictable machining margins, so VMC tools stop breaking.

Ganga Thermopack
95% less tool breakage
Ganga Thermopack makes thermocol packaging moulds for coolers, washing machines and appliances. In July 2025 they replaced wooden and thermocol patterns with patterns printed on a GO3D BX 700. Within a year, they grew from one GO3D printer to four.
| Result | Before | With GO3D |
|---|---|---|
| Tool breakage | 4 to 5 tools per job | Near zero (95% less) |
| Pattern cost | Outsourced and wooden patterns | About 50% lower |
| Savings | ₹72,000 a month, over ₹8.6 lakh a year | |
| Pattern life | Built for Ganga’s runs of 30 to 40 castings per pattern | |
| People | Pattern maker, vendor and programmer | One designer, start to finish |
Customer reported results from Ganga's own workflow. Your savings depend on your parts and costs.
“3D printed patterns are highly accurate and consistent. Tool breakage reduced from 4 to 5 per job to mostly zero. Our machining operations are now smooth, with big savings in cutting tool cost and reduced machine downtime.”

Mackwell Pumps: impeller patterns in days, not weeks
Mackwell Pumps prints impeller patterns on a GO3D Artish 700. Pattern lead time dropped from weeks to days and average costs fell by around 30%. The results led them to buy a second Artish 700.
How Ganga Thermopack prints its patterns
These are Ganga’s own settings, chosen for their patterns and their runs of 30 to 40 castings. Every foundry tunes settings to its own pattern size, surface finish and casting volume, and our team helps you find yours.
| Material | PLA Pro (PETG Pro for selected patterns) |
|---|---|
| Nozzle | 0.6 mm |
| Layer height | 0.4 mm |
| Walls | 3 |
| Infill | 8% |
| Finishing | None needed, no sanding |
Three things that matter for every pattern
1. Draft angles first
Enough draft in CAD lets the pattern release cleanly from the sand.
2. Print in one piece
Glued multi part patterns can bend at the joint, so print whole whenever the build volume allows.
3. Choose speed or finish
Many foundries print faster with a larger nozzle and then finish the surface by sanding or coating. Others, like Ganga, print finer and skip finishing.
Choose a printer by pattern size
Start with your largest pattern. Printing it in one piece gives the most accurate casting.
Why foundries choose GO3D
We don’t just sell printers. We help foundries move pattern making in house, and they keep coming back.
A slicer made for pattern makers
Add machining allowance and shrinkage allowance directly on your part. Pick the surfaces to machine, set the allowance, and the fillets blend automatically. No separate pattern model, no CAD rework.
We provide GO3D Transform with Artish and BX printers.
1 → 4
Proven on real foundry floors
Ganga Thermopack grew from one GO3D printer to four in a year. Mackwell Pumps bought a second Artish 700 for impeller patterns.
1.2 m
Big patterns in one piece
The BX 1200, India’s largest made in India FDM 3D printer, means fewer glued joints and more accurate castings.
4 kg/day
Built for long, heavy prints
Up to 4 kg of prints per day, anti clog nozzles and machines that customers run 24x7.
0.4 to 1.4 mm
Speed or finish, your choice
Tool free nozzle swap: print big patterns fast and finish them, or print finer and skip sanding.
Pattern know how, not just a machine
Our team helps you choose the material, nozzle, walls and infill for your pattern size and casting run, and can arrange a sample print on your own part.

How much could your foundry save?
Ganga Thermopack saves over ₹8.6 lakh a year on patterns and cutting tools. Send us your current pattern cost, monthly pattern count and tool breakage, and we will estimate your savings and payback.
Want proof on your own part first? Ask about a sample pattern print. Whether it is free or paid is decided case by case.
What to send with your enquiry

- Installation location (city and PIN code)
Questions foundries ask us
How do we add machining and shrinkage allowance?
In GO3D Transform, our own slicer. Select the surfaces to be machined on your part, set the allowance, and the slicer builds the extra stock and blends the fillets. Shrinkage allowance is added the same way, so you don’t need a separate pattern model in CAD.
How many castings does a printed pattern last?
It depends on your requirement. Ganga Thermopack needed 30 to 40 aluminium castings per pattern and planned its material and settings for that. Tell us how many castings you need, and we will suggest the material, settings and finishing to match.
Do the layer lines show on the casting?
That depends on your nozzle size and finishing. Ganga prints with 0.4 mm layers and needs no sanding for its patterns. Many foundries print faster with a larger nozzle and then finish the surface by sanding or coating.
Can a large pattern be printed in one piece?
Yes, if it fits the build volume. The BX 1200 prints patterns up to 1150 × 1000 × 1200 mm in one piece. Larger patterns can be printed in sections and joined.
How quickly can our team start?
GO3D installs the printer on site and provides 2 to 3 days of operator training for Artish and BX printers.
Can we try a sample pattern first?
Yes. Send us your CAD file and we will discuss a sample print. Whether it is free or paid is decided case by case.
Can we buy through GeM?
Yes. GO3D is a registered OEM on GeM, with Artish and BX printers listed for government and institutional buyers.
